Flatscan
Privacy Changes
This page tracks changes that could affect how Flatscan handles data.
Current privacy commitments
Your documents stay local
Scans, imported pages, thumbnails, OCR text, folders, and search data live in the app container on your device.
OCR runs on device
Flatscan uses Apple's Vision framework for text recognition. There is no server-side OCR pipeline.
Exports are your choice
When you share a PDF or TXT file, Apple's share sheet lets you choose the destination.
Protected storage
Protected storage keeps its encrypted catalog and document files separate from the ordinary archive. It uses device-owner authentication and encrypts protected pages, thumbnails, metadata, OCR text, notes, and folder names on the device. Protected content is not added to ordinary search.
Protected content is included only in an explicitly selected password-protected backup after device-owner authentication. Unencrypted backups exclude protected content.
Any new SDK, network domain, analytics or diagnostics collection, server-side processing, cloud sync, account system, or App Store privacy change will be documented here.
